Fishing Tampa Bay and backwater is always interesting – from tailing Red Fish to Snook popping the bait out of the water. The idea behind fishing in these areas is in the tides. From the high water the fish push up in the mangroves or oyster bars to the falling water which pushes the fish off the bar. It is that simple and the process starts all over. The second part is to know where they are. That’s where I come in. There is a lot of “fishy-looking” areas, but sometimes it doesn’t have the fish in there like you hoped for. Learning to locate them will produce day in and day out, year after year. Following a few basic theories will help produce the fish, like where you have seen or caught them before, and if you work at it, they will be nearby.
Tampa Bay Fishing with Captain Kris you will always be in the vicinity of land but where the action is. The perks of fishing the Flats is that even if it is windy, there is always a mangrove to get behind where the waters are calm.
Fishing in the waters surrounding Tampa Bay, Bradenton, and Sarasota is a great experience, along with the advantage of having places like Disney World, Sea World, Busch Gardens, or our own Mote Marine Laboratories nearby.
